Get involved with the PTA! The William Ramsay PTA (Parent Teacher Association) hosts several activities and events for families and teachers at William Ramsay Elementary School during the year. These activities and events are designed to compliment the mission and purposes of the National PTA Organization: to motivate and encourage your child to reach their full potential, provide information to parents, provide opportunities and encourage our parents and staff to advocate for our students and school and to encourage parent engagement, involvement, and volunteerism. We have a diverse and vibrant school community of hard-working students, families, and teachers. There are several languages from all around the world spoken within our school, and our students, staff, and families represent more than 100 cultures!  As a member of our school community, we want to make sure that we are getting your input on the activities, programs, and services that will best serve you.  You can see some of the events we’ve hosted in the past and programs we’ve supported below.

We invite you to join our monthly meetings during the school year. For the 2022-2023 school year we are trying a hybrid meeting, where some participants will be in-person and others will be joining via Zoom. The PTA board believes this set-up provides the best opportunity for all parents to become involved in the process. Please keep an eye on the school calendar, our Facebook page, our Instagram, and our newsletter for meeting dates (usually a Tuesday or a Thursday).

Volunteer with the PTA

We ALWAYS welcome new volunteers! Email us at williamramsaypta@gmail.com if you want to volunteer for one event or help with several. We’ll put you on our volunteer list. You do NOT need to join as a member to volunteer at an event. 

If you would like to become a member, the cost is $5 for an individual and $10 for a family. The money goes to our school and to help us pay our dues to keep the PTA running as a non-profit. Membership is open to parents, caregivers, extended family, educators, and members of the larger community - anyone who is interested in the well-being of a Ramsay Roadrunner!

Once you’re a member you are also eligible to be a member of a PTA committee. Past committees have included BoxTops, Reflections, Communications and Outreach, and Activities. You can start your own, too! 

Members can also be a part of the PTA Board. Our bylaws require us to have a president, treasurer, and secretary each school year. We also have the optional position of vice president! Elections are held in May. All experience levels are welcome.  

How else can you help?  You can make a donation of any amount on our Memberhub. You can also donate to the William Ramsay PTA every time you shop through BoxTops for Education, Amazon Smile or  by linking your VIC card at Harris Teeter.
